Passion of the Syndrome

His story has been told perhaps more than
any other. He has inspired countless books,
majestic songs and magnificent works of art.
But when his story is portrayed by an actor
with Down syndrome, you'll truly see him
as if for the first time ever as you lose yourself
in the passion, the purpose, and the now
uncanny mentally challenged paradox of
Jesus Christ.
Travel with the camera as though it were
the crowd of the curious and jealous as they
observed his miracles.
See the Syndrome Christ
as his post rescue of Mary Magdalene
spirals into an array of erotic, yet
sensually driven forgiveness of sin.
Watch as the dwarfism-stricken Judas betrays
this new beloved almond-eyed
messiah for a mere bag of chocolate coins.
Then follow him on the agonizing path to
Calvary as he places himself in the hands of
the murderous mob.
When hope has been annihilated,
exult as one of the faithful believers
at the triumph of his glorious resurrection.
Behold the lamb of God as never before
and depart with the certainty that nothing
could be more important than what you've
just seen.
A film that attempts to dramatically explore
the contradictions associated with the dual
identity of Jesus as both God and man.
But this time...
a mentally challenged man;
a son of God with Down syndrome.
A film that raises many questions
about where reality ends
and fiction begins.
NOW IN PRODUCTION WITH
JOHN WATERS

Who better than myself, "THE POPE OF TRASH" to produce a Young Jesus Films movie?
THE PASSION OF THE SYNDROME:
A blackly humorous, fatalistic parable,
leaving us with nothing but the mad, strident cackling of a dwarf
that comes from the tear of the almond eyed messiah
and into a blood-filled swimming pool
that punctuates the crucifixion in a way never told before.
It's not just that the dwarfs and those with down syndrome are grotesques,
but that we all are grotesques in this eerie little world,
and it's only through Young Jesus' eye that we see this clearly.
There are themes explored, and interpretations abound
because the film is so intentionally ambiguous.
You can see the film as a critique from many different angles on rebellion,
you can see it as a meditation on entropy,
you can see it as a commentary on people inheriting a world they didn't make . . .
you can see it as many things.
I believe this will effortlessly expose our deepest and innermost anxieties
and how we take so many things for granted.
Accusations of exploitation will be leveled at Young Jesus in regard to this film,
but in reality he affords the down syndrome Jesus a decency ,and humanity,
and a sense of reality by the manner in which he shoots him and represents him through the lense.
This film will be brilliant, troubling, and hard to categorize.
